You may have heard the Department of Labor (“DOL”) released a new version of the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) poster on April 26th along with an updated Employer’s Guide to the FMLA.
The new poster can be found here: http://www.dol.gov/whd/regs/compliance/posters/fmlaen.pdf
The 2013 version of the poster, however, can still be used to comply with the posting requirement. Primarily, the 2016 revisions involve formatting. The new poster uses bullet points rather than paragraphs to explain leave entitlements, benefits and protections, eligibility requirements, and leave requests. A bulleted list is also used to explain employer responsibilities instead of the old paragraph format.
If your company is covered by the FMLA, be sure to have the poster up in a “conspicuous place where employees and applicants for employment can see it” and at all business locations. Required postings are one of the first things government investigators seek when conducting onsite investigations.
