Pay Transparency Law Enactment

By Robert G. Brody and Mark J. Taglia

May 7, 2022

What comes as little surprise to legal onlookers, the implementation of New York City’s wage transparency law has been pushed back from May 15th to November 1, 2022.  As we have previously written, in January the New York City Council enacted legislation which requires New York City employers to provide the minimum and maximum salary range when advertising for open positions.  The law also included similar notice requirements for internal job postings when promoting currently employed workers.

Earlier this month, the City Council passed an amendment to move the start date of the new law to November 1st.  As a result, employers will now have an additional six months to prepare.  We will keep our readers posted if things should change again.
