I just read about the Protecting the Right to Organize Act (“PRO”). It is a very pro-labor bill designed to support unions and enhance their ability to unionize workers. It seems a little odd given the Republican White House and Senate, but I think that is the point. Unions are embedded in the foundation of our economy and despite their dwindling numbers, they won’t go away. While the bill may pass the House, it won’t get through the Senate. Nonetheless, it should remind everyone that the union movement is alive and fighting to grow. If management forgets the potential power of unions, it will get a tough reminder when the winds shift and the Democrats return to power.
