Michael Katzen
Michael Katzen is of counsel to our Firm. Michael counsels employers on a wide range of labor and employment law related issues, including wage and hour compliance, family medical leave, equal employment opportunity, discrimination, sexual harassment, retaliation, and employment at will. He frequently assists companies and organizations in auditing their overtime and independent contractor classifications, structuring reductions-in-force, investigating employee misconduct, and training employees on “respect in the workplace.” Michael drafts restrictive covenants, employment contracts, offer letters, separation agreements, human resources policies and employee handbooks. He also represents employers at unemployment hearings and in matters before federal, state and local human rights agencies. Michael presents national webinars on a variety of workplace law topics.
Michael received his B.A. in Psychology and Criminal Justice from the University of Delaware, and is a graduate of Hofstra University School of Law, where he was a member of the Hofstra Labor and Employment Law Journal and received his J.D. with a concentration in labor and employment law. He is licensed to practice law in New York and New Jersey, and is admitted to the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York and the District of New Jersey. Michael is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) by the Human Resources Certification Institute, and opened Halpern Employment Law Advisors’ New Jersey office in December 2010.
